I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE

Scripture reading: John 14:6

Today, we explore the sixth "I Am" statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John.

John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This statement captures Jesus' unique identity and his central role in the salvation and spiritual journey of humanity.

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples during the Last Supper, just before His crucifixion. He was preparing them for His imminent departure and assuring them of the way to eternal life and communion with God.

Acts 4:12
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Jesus claims exclusivity as the Way to the Father. He is not merely one of many ways but the singular path through which humanity can be reconciled to God.

Psalm 23:3
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.

As the Way, Jesus provides guidance and direction in our spiritual journey. He leads us in paths of righteousness and shows us the way to live according to God's will.

Discussion Question:
“Jesus is the Way to God”. How does this truth impact your understanding of salvation and your relationship with Him?

John 8:31-32
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

In a world filled with conflicting ideologies and beliefs, Jesus declares Himself as the Truth. His teachings and life embody absolute truth, revealing God's character and His plan for humanity.

John 8:36
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Knowing and embracing the truth of Jesus sets us free from spiritual bondage and deception. It brings clarity, purpose, and genuine fulfillment to our lives.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Give an example where Jesus' truthfulness challenges cultural norms and popular beliefs.
  2. How does His truth bring freedom and transformation to your life?

John 10:10
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Jesus offers eternal life to all who believe in Him. This life is not merely existence, but a quality of life marked by intimacy with God, spiritual fulfilment, and the promise of eternity in His presence.

John 15:5
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Following Jesus leads to a life of abundance—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. His presence and teachings enrich every aspect of our existence.

Discussion Question:
In what ways have you experienced Jesus’ abundant life?
